

The application was built for heavy seasonal traffic but slowed significantly under real‑world load, especially for international visitors. The client had limited visibility into performance and usage, and growing worries about web defacement and downtime—without having planned extra budget for an urgent fix.
Multiple sessions were run with different teams to understand the technical and budget constraints and to demo potential solutions. A cloud‑hosted architecture using F5 and AWS was proposed, adding load balancing, web application firewall capabilities, better performance management and geo‑based availability. The recommended solution cut costs by around half compared to other vendors while still meeting performance and security requirements.
The Excellence Award site gained the resilience and speed needed to handle peak traffic around the annual event without damaging the government's reputation. Improved monitoring and protection reduced the risk of outages and attacks, allowing the PMO team to focus on the event itself instead of firefighting infrastructure issues.
